wwWith an average of
900 movie shoots a year in the Arts District, where the area can
double as 'urban anywhere' rarely do we get any real (or reel)
credit for being one of the most popular Districts in the whole
of Downtown. And unless you are an avid film animation aficionado
or have kids under 6 you may not have seen 'The Incredibles'.
Thanks to my sister Patty, who does have a 6 year old, for pointing
this one out.
Just a point of interest that just about the end of the movie
the street 'Traction Avenue' is mentioned in a conversation between
the two 'lead characters' namely Bob and Helen (aka Mr. Incredible
and Elastigirl) during a crazy freeway scene. For a brief flash
there is even an image of a "Traction Avenue Exit" that
is also missed. This is an interesting point since Traction Ave
is just 3 blocks long and is the only Traction Avenue inthe whaole
of Downtown.
The Arts District is home to many artists/animators. The International
SIGGRAPH, a special interest group focusing on computer graphics
and interactive techniques, has linked this Arts District website
for the last two years.
