Ed
Rosenthal, the Poet-Broker of Downtown Los Angeles, has
played a key role in the renaissance of downtown Los Angeles.
Working with Tom Gilmore, the most influential developer
in the area, he facilitated the first major acquisition
in the Downtown market - the purchase of the Old Bank
District for re-use as lofts.
A published poet, Ed's poetry has been in the Downtown
News, Garment and Citizen, California Real Estate Journal,
Los Angeles Times, and most recently in the Wall Street
Journal.
Ed is a founding member of the Urban Land Institute
Urban Marketplace of Los Angeles District Council and
poet laureate of ULILA He has delivered an annual public
poem at the Urban Marketplace yearly, since his first
ULI poem in 2002, "Smart Growth" The
California Real Estate Journal often features Ed in its
closing section, and recently published his ode to the
Eastern Columbia Building, "Jaded Deco".
Ed is currently exploring the possibilities of
having public policy expressed in poetry. His most recent
ULI Poem was delivered by Councilwoman Jan Perry to the
2005 Urban Marketplace, and expressed her policy preferences
for the Ninth District in Downtown Los Angeles.
